  • An ADHD coach is a trained professional who is dedicated to helping people live easier lives with ADHD. ADHD Coaches are thought partners who will meet clients where they are, build an understanding of their ADHD brain, and help them gain valuable skills to ultimately lead exceptional lives.

  • Even if it looks like someone has it all together, we all need help sometimes. By understanding what’s happening underneath the surface we can uncover ways to make life more calm and be able to move forward. ADHD doesn’t have to be a roadblock and coaching can help you go from struggling to succeeding.

  • Not all ADHD coach training programs are the same. ADD Coach Academy (ADDCA) is the first and largest ADHD coach training program to be fully certified by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). Many ADHD coaches choose ADDCA for its rigor and leadership in the ADHD coaching space, as it provides a deep and broad knowledge of ADHD through mentorship, teaching, and hands-on coaching.

  • Executive Function Coaching is a personalized approach that helps individuals enhance their cognitive skills like organization, time management, and decision-making. Coaches work with clients to help them develop strategies, set goals, and improve their overall executive functions so they can see better performance and outcomes in their daily tasks and activities.

  • ADHD Coaching can often work well with psychotherapy, but they are not the same. Think about it this way—therapy focuses on your past and emotional healing, while coaching focuses on developing the mindset and skills to build the life you want to lead. Both are important for living an easier life with ADHD.

  • Working with an ADHD coach is a close and collaborative partnership. Typically, ADHD coaches meet with clients three or four times per month to keep the momentum they’ve developed toward goals and positive change going strong.

  • While an ADHD diagnosis can be helpful in laying out the full picture, it’s not a prerequisite to receiving ADHD coaching. As long as someone is interested and willing to make changes in their life, they can work with an ADHD coach.

  • ADHD Coaching is usually not covered by health insurance. Clients often pay from their medical Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) or employer-sponsored plans that reimburse them for training and personal development.
